Our Vision

The “Great Commission” is central to our vision.

That means making disciples of Jesus, which starts with witnessing to what Jesus has done on the Cross, people believing and being converted. It also includes demonstrating the love of God for His people in action, friendliness and also by us believing God for signs and wonders. We seek to demonstrate that love in all manner of ways.

Word of Life Church is an independent charismatic church which is seeking to spread the message of the gospel of Jesus Christ to those who are interested and see people learn to follow Jesus. We are a people who love the scriptures and believe that the Bible helps us understand who our Lord is, what He has done for us and how we are to live.

Our aim is to make disciples or followers of Jesus and to see those disciples grow in their salvation, worship and prayer.

What We Believe

Our core beliefs are that we believe:

The Bible is the inspired, infallible and authoritative written Word of God.

There is one God, eternally existent in three Persons:

God the Father

God the Son

God the Holy Spirit

In the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, His virgin birth, His sinless life, His miracles, His atoning death, His bodily resurrection, His ascension to the right hand of the Father, His personal future return to this earth in power and glory to rule.

Jesus Christ is the Way, the Truth and the Life. There is no other way to the Father but by coming through Jesus.

Everyone who believes in the work of Jesus on the Cross, which was that He died for the sins of mankind, is born again. That means the Holy Spirit has therefore rescued them from Hell which is an eternity away from God.

Every believer must be baptised in water, in the name of Jesus Christ.

The redemptive work of Jesus on the Cross is complete and provides healing for the body, soul and spirit. This redemption breaks every curse and releases us into a life of blessing.

The baptism in the Holy Spirit, according to Acts 2:4, is given to believers who ask for it, with the evidence of “speaking in tongues” and the subsequent fruit and gifts of the Holy Spirit.

As the Holy Spirit is allowed to rule, the Christian is renewed in mind. Through that ability and power of God each person is able to live a holy life, sanctified by the power of the Holy Spirit

In the resurrection of the saved and the lost – the one to everlasting life and the other to everlasting separation from God.

Jesus Christ commissioned the global Church to make disciples. We do so through the proclamation and demonstration of the Gospel, in love and the power of the Spirit and then through effective teaching of the scriptures. The convert becomes a disciple who learns to follow the Holy Spirit.

In the blessed hope – the rapture of the Church at Christ’s second coming.

Word of Life Church aims to ensure that everyone we come in contact with is honoured and respected. Here is our Safeguarding Policy.

The Eldership recognises the importance of the ministry/work with children, young people and vulnerable adults and its responsibility to protect everyone entrusted to our care.

The following statement was agreed by the leadership on 19th April 2024.
This place of worship is committed to the safeguarding of children and vulnerable adults and ensuring their well-being.

Specifically:

We recognise that we all have a responsibility to help prevent the physical, sexual, emotional abuse and neglect of children and young people (under 18 years of age) and to report any such abuse that we discover or suspect.

We believe every child should be valued, safe and happy. We want to make sure that children we have contact with know this and are empowered to tell us if they are suffering harm.

All children and young people have the right to be treated with respect, to be listened to and to be protected from all forms of abuse.

We recognise that we all have a responsibility to help prevent the physical, sexual, psychological, financial and discriminatory abuse and neglect of vulnerable adults and to report any such abuse that we discover or suspect.

We recognise the personal dignity and rights of vulnerable adults and will ensure all our policies and procedures reflect this.

We believe all adults should enjoy and have access to every aspect of the life of this place of worship unless they pose a risk to the safety of those we serve.

We undertake to exercise proper care in the appointment and selection of all those who will work with children and vulnerable adults.

We are committed to:

Following the requirements for UK legislation in relation to safeguarding children and vulnerable adults and good practice recommendations.

Respecting the rights of children as described in the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child.

Implementing the requirements of legislation in regard to people with disabilities.

Ensuring that workers adhere to the agreed procedures of our safeguarding policy.

Keeping up to date with national and local developments relating to safeguarding.

Following any organisational guidelines in relation to safeguarding children and vulnerable adults.

Supporting the Safeguarding Co-ordinator/s in their work and in any action, they may need to take in order to protect children/vulnerable adults.

Ensuring that everyone agrees to abide by these recommendations and the guidelines established by this place of worship.

Supporting parents and families

Nurturing, protecting and safeguarding children and young people

Supporting, resourcing, training, monitoring and providing supervision to all those who undertake this work.

Supporting all attendees of Word of Life Church, who have been victims of abuse.

We recognise:

Children’s Social Services (or equivalent) has lead responsibility for investigating all allegations or suspicions of abuse where there are concerns about a child. Adult Social Care (or equivalent) has lead responsibility for investigating all allegations or suspicions of abuse where there are concerns about a vulnerable adult.

Where an allegation suggests that a criminal offence may have been committed then the police should be contacted as a matter of urgency.

Where working outside of the UK, concerns will be reported to the appropriate agencies in the country in which we operate, and their procedures followed, and in addition we will report concerns to our agency’s headquarters.
Safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility.

We will review this statement and our policy and procedures annually.
